This will be the final newsletter of 2007 – and what a year it has been!
Following the launch of the Murtaya at the end of 2006 we had no idea what to expect as we ventured
into January 2007, and after a whirlwind 12 months there is a huge amount to reflect upon and to look
forward to in 2008 and beyond.
There is a very long list of people to thank who have contributed massively to a fantastic and successful
first year. I will not bore you by going though each and everyone of them in turn, but I would like to thank
the wives and families of everyone who works here as they have put up with a lot during the course of
2007 (you will see us more next year!), to the guys who work here who have been incredible, and to
everyone reading this newsletter. By virtue of receiving it you must have showed interest, support and
enthusiasm for the Murtaya.
Thank you
Our official engine building partner Enginetuner.co.uk have worked tirelessly on developing
specifications and installations for the Murtaya, they fully deserve their reputation as one of the country’s
leading engine builders and tuning specialists. Cheers guys, we owe you one!
Highlights of the year include gracing the front page of numerous magazines, with each and every press
review featuring the journalist raving enthusiastically, praising the performance, the design and
engineering, and the build quality. Japanese Performance magazine saw fit to award the car “Specialist
Performance Car of The Year 2007” where we beat the Ariel Atom among others. “Sensational, 10/10”,
“Nothing short of an explosive force”, “Awesome” and “The Best” - just some of the various reviewers
comments!
Blasting down to Le Mans for what turned out to be a very wet weekend was brilliant and is to be
repeated in 2008 with an official Big Silly Grin Club trip. We already have several Murtaya promised for
the weekend, along with a variety of other specialist cars - please feel free to join us.
Track days have provided some great fun, from a wet and windy Llandow in February, to an icy and
snowy Millbrook in March then on to a gloriously sunny Brands Hatch with Total Kit Car magazine, an
absolute hoot each and every one.
Live action shows at Castle Combe and Silverstone provided the perfect opportunity to showcase the
Murtaya against mainstream sports car opposition, making them look slow and ordinary on both
occasions. At Silverstone the demo car was in awesome form on the 0-62mph sprint showdown. In
standard specification running with the hardtop fitted and on road tyres we beat every Ferrari, Porsche,
and Lamborghini present with scorching 3.5 second passes, while driving around the outside of Honda
NSX’s at Castle Combe’s notorious Quarry bend raised more than a few eyebrows from the spectators
and supercar drivers alike.
Competing at drag racing events in the South West once again proved the benefits of light weight and all
wheel drive, fastest road car of the day being the usual result.
Static shows provided the ideal opportunity to give a detailed showing of the car and to spend some time
chatting to all of the interested parties, some looking to buy, some intrigued and most complimentary.
Detling, Stoneleigh, Donington, Exeter and the London Motor Sport Show all having seen our presence
since the spring.
An ambitious business plan and innovative product saw us win support from the Department of Trade
and Industry at the turn of the year, being recognised as one of the most promising young businesses in
the UK and finally getting something back from the Government!
We have now appointed distributors in Australia, New Zealand and North America and have multiple
cars in each of those territories. Not only that but we have also sold cars to Canada (two) and
Switzerland (two) as well, the Murtaya is a truly international sports car!
Outside of the Murtaya we have formed a close working relationship with Toniq Ltd, helping them with
the final development of the superb ToniqR. With new engine options, an official link with Cosworth for
the supply of their 2.0 and 2.3ltr Duratec engines, and an all new chassis for 2008 the ToniqR is set to
cement its place alongside the big players in the seven market with performance to match the
contemporary looks.
Customer build projects assembling other manufacturers kits and competition preparation on Imprezas
and rally Escorts has kept the technicians lives busy and varied.
Looking back it makes you wonder how we have managed to fit it all in!
So what of 2008?
We already have a very busy year lined up with the arrival of the Murtaya race and rally car (being
launched at Autosport International in January), orders for 20+ kits and some very special factory built
cars scheduled (look out for an 800bhp track day Murtaya later in the year!!!).
There are orders in the book for ToniqR body kits and factory built vehicles, while on the design front we
have several engineering projects underway on behalf of other manufacturers. We certainly will not be
bored!
The show season kicks off with Autosport International in January and our onfirmed line up so far looks
like this:-

for making 2007 such a fun and rewarding year. We have made many new friends and acquaintances
and I look forward to speaking with and meeting you all again next year.
All the best,
Neil
